Ferozepur police bust two gangs demanding Rs.40 lakhs ransom through extortion calls within 48 hrs, held four

Ferozepur, August 18, 2022: The Ferozepur police have busted two gangs demanding ransom from people by threatening and four criminals have been arrested, in its drive to stop the illegal activities of anti-social elements, under the directions of DGP Punjab.

This entire action was led by Surendra Lamba, SSP Ferozepur along with his team of officers against the mischievous elements.

Divulging with details SSP said, the common factor in both the gangs is demanding ransom through extortion calls and active police teams headed by DSPs Zira and Ferozepur, solved the case within 48 hrs with the arrest of four criminals’ recovery of six mobiles, SIM cars, and motorcycle .  However, no money was handed over so far as in both the cases the accused were known to each other and were nabbed. In the case of Talwandi Bhai, the ransom caller’s mother was working in the house of Buta Ram.

Giving a word of advice to the youths, SSP said, there is no short cut for money in life or illegal means by youths, if any one goes on this path that goes to the jail.

On August 15, Manjit Singh resident of village Snehar under Zira police station informed the police that on August 6 that an unknown person called him and demanded Rs.5 lakh as ransom by threatening with dire consequences.

Taking immediate action by using the technical tools and intelligence sources, with the help of Manjit Singh and traced three gang membes Manpreet Sngh, Harmandeep Singh and Husanpreet Singh near village Sanehar on August 16 at Vasian village in Ferozepur.  Six mobile phones, a SIM Card and a morotrculce were seized from them, said SSP.

SSP further said, in another such case of August 17,  Buta Ram of Talwandi Bhai informed the police that his grandson Rajdeep Arora got an Instagram ID in the name of Jaskaran Singh, full of threats Messages demanding a ransom of Rs.35 lakhs or else he and his gang will kill and threatened that the joy of the grandson’s marriage will turn into sadness and the whole family will die.

In this case too, the police swiftly put their hands on the gang member on August 17 – Jaskaran Singh alias Jassa of Talwandi  Bhai was arrested from his house with recovery of a mobile phone.  The involvement of his accomplices has come on the surface during the preliminary investigation and shortly he too will be nabbed and will be dealt with according to the law.   He, however, appealed to the people to immediately inform the police about any such excessed with assurance that police will help them immediately according to the law.
