Ferozepur: Opium found in Tennis ball thrown inside jail

Ferozepur, April 30, 2021: The police have booked one unidentified person for allegedly throwing a Dickson tennis ball containing the opium-like substance.

On April 21 also, a tennis ball in the backyard of the same barrack was spotted in which 9.50 gm heroin and two packets of intoxicating material were found inside the ball. There was also an attack on jail staff over grabbing the ball among the two jail inmates and tried to flee.  In the past there had been several such instances posting a security threat to jail premises.

As per the information, on Friday, around 4 pm, a Dixon tennis ball of parrot colour was spotted near sentry post of new barrack number 6 and on opening around 20 gm including envelope, the opium-like substance was found.

Meanwhile, a case on the complaint of Assistant Superintendent, Sukhwant Singh has been registered at the city police station, against an unidentified person, under Section 42 of the Prisons Act and further investigations are on.
