DSWO invites parents of 1971 Indo-Pak War heroes for follow up assistance

Ferozepur, March 18, 2021:  Lt Col (Retd) Satbir Singh Wariach, District Defence Services Welfare Officer has invited the parents or natural heirs of unmarried martyrs and permanently disabled soldiers during the 1971 Indo-Pak War, with valid documents, for follow up of any available assistance from the government.

Punjab is the sword arm of the country and has been contributing a large number of young men towards the defense forces of the nation.  It was more than 50 years back when in 1971 Indo-Pakistan War started on December 3 in the year 1971 and lasted for 13 days, after which, Pakistan surrendered to India and Bangladesh.  In this war, over 3,800 soldiers of India and Pakistan sacrificed their lives to end the genocide Pakistan had been conducting against the Bengali population of East Pakistan.

Lt Col further said that only those families may approach the office on any working day, who does not own urban plot or house nor has it been allotted them under any scheme or for the benefit of 10 acres of land, to pursue their cases with the government for the assistance.
