Ferozepur, March 27, 2024: A district-level NCORD (Narco Co-ordination Centre) monthly meeting was held today under the tutelage of Soumya Mishra, SSP as Member Convener.

Soumiya Mishra SSP said, according to the Government of India and Punjab government guidelines, to enhance the interaction of all departments in the war against drug addiction and to ensure strict action against drug use in unity, a District Level Control Committee, Ferozepur was held comprising representatives of all security agencies, education department, excise representatives of the department, Health Department and Drugs Department etc.

Present among others in the meeting were – Dr. Nidhi Kumud Bambha, ADC, Randhir Kumar SD(Investigation, Suraj, Assistant Commissioner (G), Madan Lal, Deputy Commandant General BSF, Naveen Kumar DSP NDPS cum Narcotic, Jaswinder Singh, DSP Central Jail, Rajesh Kumar, AC 116 Bn BSF, Narinder Yadar, AC 155 Bn BSF, Deepak Kumar, CI, Sonia Gupta Drug Inspector, Dr Gurmej Ram, Rakesh Kumar, DSP STF, Sarbjit Singh Luvdeep Singh from Education Deptt, Naveen Khanna ADO Agri Deptt, Parmpal Singh Revenue Deptt, and Satpal Singh DFO Forest Deptt.

During this meeting, the efforts being made by all departments to prevent drug addiction were reviewed and appropriate guidelines were also issued to the representative of the concerned department by the ADC and SSP, to work together to eliminate drug addiction. ADC(G) specifically instructed all the departments to ensure maximum inclusion of the general public to win their trust.

SSP informed that during the period from February 15 to March 25, the Ferozepur police have registered 113 cases under the NDPS Act with the arrest of 143 accused with recovery of 15.153 kg heroin, 159 kg poppy husk, 1.276 opium, 11,570 intoxicant tablets, 65 gm intoxicant powder, Rs.10,13,200 drug money, one pistol, one magazine and four live cartridges and one drone.  Counter Intelligence has registered three cases and captured three persons with recovery of 2.025 gm heroin, Rs.5.18 lac drug money, one country-made pistol .12 bore, 3 live cartridges .12 bore, one pistol and one drone.
