BSF’s enhanced vigil thwarts attempt of new methods of smuggling, seizes 22.750 kg heroin during 2018

Ferozepur, January 20, 2018:   On 20 Jan 2018, Border Security Force troops successfully seized 01 plastic bottle filled with approx.-500 gms of contraband suspected to be heroin in the area of responsibility of Border Out Post J N Mohammad, Ex-77 Bn BSF, Sector Ferozepur and it comes to around 22.750 kg heroin including today’s seizure.

Keeping in view the vulnerability of Border, setting of Fog / Smog and heightened activities of smugglers/ Anti-National Elements on border, Sh Mukul Goel, IPS, Inspector General BSF Punjab Frontier has issued operational guidelines to all the Sectors under Punjab Frontier for further strengthening the border domination so as to effectively check the activities of Anti – National Elements on Punjab border with Pakistan. Accordingly, Sh BS Rajpurohit, Deputy Inspector General, Sector BSF Ferozepur directed Field Commanders to maintain extra vigil on the border to thwart the attempts of Anti- National Elements. Tactical Operations are being mounted to foil the attempts of the smugglers/ Anti-National Elements.  

On 20 Jan 2018, based on specific information, a special search operation was carried out by Border Security Force troops in the area of responsibility of Border Out Post J N Mohammad, Ex-77 Bn BSF, Sector Ferozepur between Border Security Fence and International Border. During the search at about 1135 hrs, BSF troops recovered 01 plastic bottle filled with approx. 500 gms of contraband suspected to be Heroin in the field ahead of Border Security Fence.

The enhanced vigil of BSF has once again thwarted the attempt of smugglers/ Anti-National Elements to smuggle contraband items into India. During the year 2018, BSF has affected under mentioned seized 22.750 kgs, apprehended Indian border crosser 9, Pak SIM cards 4, Indian moiles 5, Indian SI cards 3 and one Pak intruder interdicted said Sr.ublic Relations Officer BSF Punjab Frontier.
