ASI dies in accidental firing in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, October 2, 2021: An ASI of Punjab Police, staying in the residential quarters of Mamdot police station, died late last night due to accidental firing.

Confirming the death of Jatinder Singh ASI, SHO Gurpreet Singh said, as per the first-hand information, Jatinder Singh had just gone to his quarter after duty and putting off his uniform and perhaps, it could be due to accidental firing, from his service revolver.

According to sources, ASI Jatinder Singh had gone to his quarters after completing his duty when a gunshot was heard at around 10 pm and when the people inside the police station went inside and saw that ASI Jatinder Singh was covered in blood and found dead on the ground.

However, arriving on the spot, DSP Azad Davinder Singh said that the incident was being closely investigated.  Fingerprint experts have also been called in this regard. Police have sent the body of the deceased ASI to Ferozepur for post-mortem and further details are awaited.
