Satwant Kaur Johal, Member Punjab Mahila Commission visits Women Cell in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, May 30,2016 : To review about the facilities being extended to the women in Women Cell to deal with the marital dispute cases, Satwant Kaur Johal, Member, Punjab State Mahila Commission Chandigarh visited Ferozepur.
Speaking to the media persons, Johal said, Mahila Commission has started a special campaign to provide justice to women, by putting a check on the atrocities on women.
She said, during the period from July 2016 to May 2016, 308 complaints were received in the women cell, out of which, in 109 cases the amicably compromise was agreed, while 3 were referred to the court and 42 were confined to record.
She asked the Women Cell incharge J.J.Atwal that the action on the complaints should be initiated only after thorough investigation and ensures that no women are given undue benefit under Section 498 – Cruelty by husband or relatives of husband.
She further said that SSP Ferozepur would be requested to form a Committee to deal with sexual harassment cases in the various offices.
She expressed her concern over having no women counselor on the panel since long and assured to take up the matter with the Commission to enquire as to whether the counselor deputed in the Women Cell are not making its misuse to deny justice to women.
One of the member, S.P.Khera said, the priority of marital dispute have changed now. It is not ego, misunderstanding, extra marital relations, drug addict, and property dispute while dowry is at the tail.
