4 mobiles found during search operation at Central Jail Ferozepur

Ferozepur, November 18, 2023:  The trend of getting mobiles from prisoners inside the jail, is not stopping, and surprisingly despite the deployment of security staff, mobiles are still reaching the barracks without fear and keeping the prisoners behind bars in contact with the outside world, as a punishment seems pointless now. This has exposed chinks in the jail security system and the easy access that inmates had to the banned items.

Recently, the National Investigation Agency has claimed that the investigations have revealed that conspiracies for several killings in Punjab last year, were being hatched in jails of different states and were being executed by an organized network of operatives based abroad.

The recovery of mobiles from the jail during the current year has crossed 500 besides other banned items. Still, stringent measures need to be taken to check the smuggling of mobiles and other items inside the jail, which are used for illegal purposes.

Recently as per the report, four mobiles have been recovered from the jail inmates during the search operations carried out on a tip-off with the jail staff.  One mobile with battery and SIM card was recovered from under-trial prisoner Vipan lodged in barrack number 5, block number 2, carried out by Sarbjit Singh, Assistant Superintendent.  Similarly, in the second search operation in the same barrack and block by Rishvpal Singh, Assistant Superintendent, three mobiles, with batteries and SIM cards, were found from under trial prisoners, Rajpal Sing, Balwinder Singh, and Jaspal Singh who are already in the jail.

Meanwhile, an IO Gurmail Singh has been appointed and further investigations are on.
