Fire breaks out in record of  Excise and Taxation Deptt in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, November 1, 2023: A massive fire broke out in the record room of the Excise and Taxation Department in Ferozepur today around 4 p.m.

Had the fire-breaking incident been after office hours, there would have been a huge loss of damage to old records stored in the rooms.  In the past, there have been incidents of fire in this building.

One record room on the ground floor was gutted in fire and fire flames and smoke was coming out of the windows.  However, the fire tender reached to douse the flames. Before the arrival of the fire tender, the records in rooms were destroyed.  However, it was controlled.  Police also rushed to the spot and further investigations are underway.

According to the excise official, the old record up to 2015 and of GST was reported to be dumped in the rooms where the fire took place.   The police authorities were also informed about this.  However, the cause of the fire could not be ascertained.

The condition of the excise and taxation office building is very dilapidated and hardly there is any maintenance.  The short circuit could be the cause of the fire in the record room.
