Jail Search Operations: 7 more mobiles recovered, 458 mobiles total recovery during 2023
Checking needs to be tightened at the entry points to cease this menace.
Ferozepur, October 18, 2023: With seven more mobiles recovered from the three jail inmates including one lying as unclaimed, during the recent two search operations carried out, the total mobiles recovery during the year 2023 has gone to 458 apart from other banned items.
Frequent recovery of mobiles from inside the jail premises has put a question mark on the weak security arrangements at the entry points. More worrisome is its usage for illegal purposes from inside the jail causing harassment to the caller and members of their families. Checking at the entry points needs to be tightened to cease this menace so that the purpose of putting the prisoners behind bars as punishment is fulfilled and they come out as refined persons acceptable to society.
The search operations were conducted by Nirmaljit Singh and Sarbjit Singh, Assistant Superintendents in block number 2, barrack number 1, and barrack number 3 and 7 mobiles of two brands, with one broken body along with battery and SIM cards were recovered.
A case against three under-trial prisoners – Wilson, Sukhdev Singh, and Gurnam Singh – along with unidentified persons, has been registered under Section 52-A of the Prisons Act.
