Ferozepur Rail Division earns Rs.3.85 cr revenue from ticket defaulters in May
Ferozepur, July 6, 2022: The Ferozepur railway division has recovered about ₹3.85 crores from ticket defaulters in June, the highest revenue earned by it through ticket checking.
Ferozepur Division serves a large number of industrial and important towns like Amritsar, Jalandhar and Ludhiana in Punjab, Kangra and Palampur in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu Tawi,
The ticket checking team of Firozpur division registered a record by collecting revenue of about Rs 15.03 crore during the first quarter i.e. April to June of the year 2022. Senior officials are keeping a close watch on the loss of revenue due to travel without tickets in trains. Regular checks are conducted at the main stations of the division to keep the railway stations of the division clean and to prevent the general public from spreading dirt on the stations and to make them aware of their cleanliness.
Dr.Seema Sharma, Divisional Railway Manager, Ferozepur, said a total of 54,957 passengers were found travelling without tickets in trains by the staff during ticket checking campaign of the division in June and a revenue of about Rs.3.85 crores was recovered from them as fine.
Under the Anti-Littering Act, about ₹55,650 was collected from 327 passengers as a fine in June for spreading garbage in the station premises, she added.
DRM, informed that ticket checking campaign will continue in Ferozepur Division. The main objective of ticket checking is to improve the sales of railway tickets and to collect fines from railway passengers traveling without tickets so that they travel with proper and valid railway tickets to avoid inconvenience in future.
