Ferozepur, July 24, 2021: The Ferozepur police have booked Sepoy Lal Singh (No.1928-Ludhiana) for extortion, cheating, corruption on the complaint of his own colleague, on the pretext of getting Manjit Singh dismissed Sepoy reinstated.
As per the details, both Manjit Singh and Lal Singh were recruited in police in 1992. In the year 1995, the department dismissed Manjit Singh from his job on some issue. A few days later, the accused constable Lal Singh was also dismissed from his job. Later on, after his dismissal, Lal Singh was reinstated by the Home Secretary, Punjab, Chandigarh, who is now posted as Constable in Ludhiana. Since they were known to each other, Lal Singh old Manjit Singh that he can get him reinstated and it will cost a small amount and deal was settled at Rs.1.80 lac. When Lal Singh could not be reinstated into service, Manjit Singh asked to return the money given to him to which he refused.
Meanwhile a case under Sections 420 IPC, 8 and 9 of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 has been registered against Sepoy Lal Singh of Ludhiana, according to DSP DSP Barinder Singh, who is probing the said case, after getting all the evidence in the case. The accused will be arrested soon, he added.
