7 inmates and one unidentified person booked on recovery of banned items from jail

 

Ferozepur, July 21, 2021:  With the recovery of banned items from inside the jail, seven inmates and one unidentified person for throwing ball from outside have been booked under Prisons Act, on the complaint of Assistant Superintendent, Central Jail Sukhjinder Singh.

 

The booked inmates are Charanjit Singh, Dharminder Singh, Amarjit Singh, Luvpreet Singh, Gurbhej Singh, Jasvir Singh, and Rakesh Saluja for recovery of banned items.

 

With the frequent recovery of mobiles and other banned items, the purpose of keeping the inmates away from outside activities as punishment is lost.

 

As per the information, on July 19, one mobile was recovered from barrack number 2 from prisoner under trial Charanjit Singh with batter and SIM Card.  On July 20, a message was received from Kulwant Singh Head ward at Control Room to Sukhjinder Singh, Assistant Superintendent that inmates Dharaminder Singh, Amarjit  Singh, Luvpreet Singh, Gurbhej Singh Jasvir Singh and Rakesh Saluja, who are facing the sentence in different cases, have arranged a throw of ball wrapped in red colour tape from which 16 sachets of tobacco were found.  On the same day, during the search operataion of new barrack number 2, one mobile with battery and SIM card was found from the useable items of empty box and one from with battery, SIM card and ordinary charger was found.  In another incident, the official deputed near tower number 3 and 4 informed that some mischievous persons have thrown one ball from outside the jail and on opening ‘zarda’ tobacoo powder was found.

 

Number of times recoveries of banned items have been made which has raised a question mark on the security arrangements as to how these are smuggled in.  However, the vigil staff and in-puts have thwarted the attempt to its usages. Earlier, during the current year  92  mobiles, including the recent four,  have been recovered during the search operations.
