Contractual marriages with an IELTS pass girls for going abroad turns sour
Ferozepur, January 8, 2021: The aspiration to settle their sons or daughters have got momentum in the past but has cost heavily to certain families, who are facing uncertain future besides loss of heavy amount.
In two cases in Ferozepur, the police have booked a fraud case under six persons under the relevant Sections of IPC. In one case, one Jatinder Singh of Nurpur village was married to IELTS passed Tajbir Kaur on February 2017 with an understanding that all expenses on study of Tajbir Kaur in Australia will be borne by them. Tajbir Kaur was to call Jatinder Singh her husband to Australia but stopped talking on reaching there. In Augusut 2018, Tajbir Kaur came back to India and refused to take her husband to Australia and want to marry with someone else there and want divorce from him. As per the information, in total Rs.39.72 has been spent for sending Tajbir Kaur to Australia. A case has now been registered against Tajbir Kaur, Sukhwinder Kaur and Hardip Singh mother and father.
In another similar case, Baljinder Singh was married to Mandip Kaur in 2018 and spent Rs.12 lakh on marriage and had sent Mandip Kaur to Australia by spending another Rs.13 lakh. Later on, on reaching Australia, Mandeep Kaur refused to call her husband there and had cheated for Rs.30 lack. Meanwhile, a case against Mandeep Kaur, Luvpreet Singh brother and Amarjit Kaur mother of village Naurng Singh Wala presently at Ladha Kothi.
In both the cases, Harnek Singh Darshan Singh have been appointed as IO and the investigations are on. However, no arrest has been made till the filing of this report.
