A LETTER TO ALL THE FREEDOM FIGHTERS OF INDIA ON AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV

To

The Freedom Fighters of India

Dear Freedom Fighters of my Country- India,

Today, as we celebrate the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav which is the celebration of 75 years of Independence, it will be nothing short of a blunder by all Indians if we forget your sacrifices which culminated in the form of today’s celebration of 75 years of Independence. The fact that the Indian Freedom Struggle was a unique movement of sacrifice, courage, hope and non-violence goes unchallenged throughout the world. Even though only few of the freedom fighters who led the movement are remembered and many others have been lost in the vast span of Indian History, it cannot be denied that each freedom fighter was unique and legendary in his own way and opened the doors for Independence because a movement cannot be led by few people alone. It requires the entire country to join in and all of you made immense contribution and laid the foundations of a massive tree named India which has today completed 75 years since its shoot developed. But, the seed of freedom was planted many years ago by all of you.

Today, you will be highly pleased to know that India has come a long way and is on its way to become the India of your dreams. India is on its way to become the global leader and today India of your dreams is the 6th largest economy of the world. The country is also marching ahead on other fronts and has been combatting various ills in society. Due to the Fundamental Rights of our Constitution, all Indians stand equal and this belief of equality is getting imprinted in the minds of its citizens. Despite some disheartening and dark periods in these 75 years, the blessings of all of you have kept India on its steady path. The India of your dreams which was one where all people get a say in the government and are not prosecuted as in colonial times has also come true because we know that the freedom which you wanted to achieve was not just a political independence from the British Raj but also a social freedom from the ills of society and a freedom for justice and equal rights. India is gradually getting all the facilities that a population should get and there is a renewed focus towards education, health and infrastructure because only if these basic facilities are available to the people they can maintain and carry forward this essence of freedom. I am sure that on seeing today’s developing India, you would be pleased with the country which you achieved.

Among all these dreams, a very essential and important dream was of a country which remembers its culture and values. I am proud to say that India has maintained these values even today and ever since its independence, it has ensured that it maintains these values of peace and harmony even on the global stage. Right from the Non-Aligned Movement which aimed to break the Cold War and work towards peace, till today’s Russia-Ukraine War wherein India still calls for diplomacy and dialogue, we can see that there is not even a single instance when India has not strived for a peaceful solution to the conflicts. Along with these values, India has also preserved its culture even through a democracy by maintaining the socially important villages in its federal government where the local or village government is the base of the government. India is certainly a model for all countries in terms of co-existence of development and culture. India has ensured that it blends these two things and has emerged successful in these aspirations.

I will be really happy if you are happy with what India has achieved in these 75 years. I am sure that if your blessings are with the country which you worked for, we will surely be able to turn this Amrit Kaal upto 2047 into a period where India becomes a superpower and teaches the world the values of non-violence and peace, which are still imprinted in its culture.
