Railways select 152 stations in Ferozepur Division to promote local products

Ferozepur, May 267, 2022:  The Ferozepur Railway Division has launched ‘One Station One Product’ by selecting 152 railway stations in the division to promote local and indigenous products.

It is a step toward promoting the Atamnirbhar Bharat and Vocal for Local programme which allows rail passengers to experience the rich heritage of India and buy these products.

The objective of this scheme is to promote local and indigenous products and to provide livelihood opportunities to local weavers, artisans, craftsmen, etc. through skill development.

The Ferozepur division covers the states of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir and 152 railway stations of the division have been selected under ‘One Station One Product’. The major stations are Amritsar, Jammu Tavi, Jalandhar City & Cantt, Ludhiana, Ferozepur Cantt, Muktsar, Moga, Fazilka, Phagwara, Verka, Sultanpur Lodhi, Pathankot Junction & Cantt, Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Udhampur, Budgam, Avantipura, Baramulla , Jwalamukhi Road, Baijnath Paparola, Kangra Temple, Jogindernagar, Pancharukhi etc.

These stations display and sell local products like handloom, local artifacts, phulkari, khadi products, dairy products, woolen and hosiery products, sports goods and apparel, cashmere fruits and spices, local agricultural and food products etc. Stalls/kiosks will be provided by Railways for this purpose.

One Station Artisans / Weavers associated with a product who have Development Commissioner Handicrafts, Development Commissioner Handloom or Identity Card issued by Central / State Government, Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India, National Handloom Development Corporation, Khadi and Village Industries Commission Priority will be given to the self-help groups registered in the employment creation scheme and the deprived sections of the society.

Institutions/individuals interested in setting up stalls under the ‘One Station One Product’ scheme can submit their application to the concerned Division or to the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager at the Divisional Railway Manager’s Office, Ferozepur. A necessary certificate and contact number should be written along with the application form. A decision will be taken through lottery on receipt of more than one application for one station. In order to get any kind of information in this regard, you can contact the station superintendent and commerce inspector of the station concerned.

Under this pilot project, the allotment has been made 4 times for a period of 15 days at Amritsar Railway Station which is currently in progress.
