Ferozepur, August  5, 2023:  As many as 14 railway stations will be redeveloped in Ferozepur rail division among the 508 in the first phase of total 1309 railway stations with ultra-modern facilities for passengers.

Curtain Raiser-Amrit Bharat Station Scheme Indian Railways is a major pillar of the national rail transport system in India. It is an integral part of India’s transport infrastructure. It is one of the largest and busiest railway networks in the world, providing an important mode of transport to millions of people, connecting thousands of cities and towns in the country. It is rightly called the lifeline of the nation. Since independence, Indian Railways has played a vital role in connecting people, food grains, industries and communities across a wide geographical area of the country. Realizing the Government of India’s dream of New India, the process of modernization of Indian Railways has been going on for the last 9 years.

Among this, in the first phase, 11 stations include in Ferozepur rail division at Ludhiana, Jalandhar Cantt, Ferozepur Cantt, Muktsar, Fazilka, Kotkapura, Dhandari Kalan, Phillaur, Pathankot Junction Gurdaspur and Kapurthala.  The three stations will be in Jammu and Kashmir Jammu Tawi, Udhampur and Badgam. PM Modi has especially announced the name of Anandpur Sahib railway stations among the 508 selected railway stations.  In all, 24 stations have been selected in Ferozepur rail division.   Master plans are being prepared for the redevelopment of these stations as city centres with integration of both sides of the city. This approach is driven by the holistic vision of overall urban development of the city centred around the railway station. The design of the station buildings will be inspired by local culture, heritage and architecture.

Divisional Rail Manager Sanjay Sahu in a press meet said, there is a plan to redevelop 1309 railway stations in the country.  In the first phase, Prime Minister Narindera Modi will lay the foundation stone on August 6 for 508 railway stations including 14 of Ferozepur rail division at a cost of around Rs.1,100 crore.

At these stations, there will be a lift, escalator, concourse, waiting room and retail area apart from modern facilities. In these open circulating areas, the greenery will welcome the passengers. The Food Over Bridges  will be developed to 12 meters against the 6 meter now and will be developed as City Centers.  The waiting halls will have the best infrastructure and there will be uniformity in the bards of railways, said DRM.

He said, the work under Amrit Bharat Station Yojna Scheme at three stations have been completed – Rani Kamalpati railway station in Madhya Pradesh, Sir M Vishweshwaraiah Terminal Station and GandhiNagar Capital Station  in Gujarat.
