Zira Stir: Sanjha Morcha postpones massive protest on Dec. 27, agrees to cooperate with Committees

Ferozepur, December 26, 2022: After having a dialogue between the district and police administration, the committees will start functioning from December 27, as Sanjha Morcha  have decided to cooperate with the committees in the investigation process besides giving the names of five members, said Amrit Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur.

Meanwhile, Sanjha Morcha has also decided to postpone the reaching of 1000 vehicles on December 27 on assurance from the government, at the factory site to register their protest, said protesting leader adding that the committees will start associating with the committees.  We are hopeful that people will get justice after the investigation report on water, soil testing and health reports etc. are submitted to the government.  However, in case the administrations don’t come to the expectations of the protesters, our protest will continue as hitherto.

These committees had been visiting Zira amid chilling cold, despite having no response from the protesters to ascertain the genuineness of the allegations levelled against the Mansurwala plant at Zira.

Added here, the protest has been going on at Zira since July 24 in front of Liquor Factory (Malbros International Private Limited) located at Mansurwala Kalan, Zira.  The government has also accepted the condition of release of 48 protesters earlier booked on different sections for their protest at Zira. Earlier, the protesters had refused to associated with the committees demanding the release of arrested of persons, withdrawal of cases and closure of the factory.  The demand for closure of factory has come up as the residues of the factory are polluting the underground water and soil  of around 40 villages besides affecting the health of the people of the area.

One can well imagine the impact of the protest on the children when in one of the photograph shared in the group on social media, a girl student is seen busy in her study while sitting with the protesters at Zira.
