BLIND HOME VISIT OF VISHAL MEGA MART

Ferozepur, January 28, 2016:  On Wednesday, a team of Vishal Mega Mart – a leading store of all items under one roof –  visited Home for the Blinds to donate food items – rice, atta, refined oil dals etc. – for the inmates as a part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Speaking on the occasion, Sandeep Khuttan, Store Manager said, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR, also called corporate conscience, corporate citizenship or responsible business) is a form of corporate self-regulation integrated into a business model. In fact, CSR has been defined much more in terms of a philanthropic model. Companies make profits, unhindered except by fulfilling their duty to pay taxes. Then they donate a certain share of the profits to charitable causes.

Added here, the Home for the Blind is working under the District Council for the Welfare of Handicapped started in 1954 by a renowned social activist Dr.Sadhu Chand Vinayak. There are 23 inmates in Home for the Blinds who are being provided free lodging and boarding besides education.  The home is run entirely on volunteer donations from the public donations in cash and kind.

On the visit of team of Vishal Mega Mart, the blind inmates recited bhajan and songs and read out a chapter from the Braille Book.

Present among others on this occasion were Ashwani Sharma, Secretary and Harish Monga, Assistant Secretary who thanked the visiting team for the generosity of the Vishal Mega Mart.
