Vigilance nabs SC Commission member for bribery

Ferozepur, October 28, 2017:  Vigilance Ferozepur has nabbed Babu Singh SC Commission member for taking the bribe of Rs.50,000, said SSP Vigilance Ferozepur.

Hargobind, SSP Vigilance addressed the media persons where Manjit Singh, DSP Vig. Muktsar Unit and Palwinder Singh, DSP Moga Unit were also present.

 

Speaking to the media persons, Hargobind, SSP Vig. Informed that on the complaint of Major Singh son of Sadhu Singh resident of Dhaula Tehsil Tapa District Barnala for accepting bribe of Rs.50,000 was arrested from Lambi, Tehsil Malout in Muktsar district, for a deal over giving the decision in his favour on the complaint against the complainant.

Giving further details of the case, SSP Vig said, a complaint against the complainant – Major Singh of village Dhaula -given to the Punjab State Commissioner for Scheduled Caste, Chandigarh  –was under investigation with the SC Commission member Babu Singh Panjawa. He said, Rs.5 lac was demanded and deal was struck for Rs.2.50 lac which was given on October 22, 2017 and asked to get a copy of the decision on October 24, 2017 by paying another Rs.50,000.

SSP further informed that working on the complaint, a trap plan was scheduled and a case was registered under No.21 on October 27, 2017 under section 7, 13(2) 88 PC Act at Vigilance Bureau Ferozepur.

During the search operation of Innova car (14UN-24) of Babu Singh Panjawa, a licensed revolver 32 bore with 16 live cartridges was recovered.  In view of Section 144 in vogue in Muktsar, despite ban of taking the arms with him, Panjawa was moving with a revolver and a case under Section 17 188 IPC has been registered at Lambi police station.
