Two nabbed for hiding drugs, mobile in private parts before ‘mulakat’ with jail inmates

Ferozepur, September 8, 2019:  The Ferozepur City police have booked five persons – three jail inmates and two persons including one woman under Prisons Act, on the charge of hiding habit forming tablets and mobile with SIM in private parts, kept to hand over the jail inmates at the time of meeting –‘mulakat’ with inmates.

This is not the first time, there had been number of such incidents when the relatives of the jail inmates bring with them drugs and mobiles to pass it on to them. Smuggling in of mobiles inside the jail premises for use by the inmates from jail and recovery of the same during the search operation is a regular feature.  But this has definitely put a question mark on the security arrangements of the jail. In the instant case, 148 habit forming drugs of pink color and one mobile with SIM Card was recovered from on searching in the presence of Medical Officer.

Jail sources said, every effort is made to ensure that there is breach in security arrangements and no unwanted material is smuggled in the jail premises after meeting of the jail inmates with their relatives.
