In Pakistan, Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation appeals to rename Shadman Chowk as Bhagat Singh Chowk in Lahore

Ferozepur, January 17, 2018:  Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation in Pakistan led by Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi, Advocate Chairman of the Foundation along with senior member Sayeed Shamshad Hussain, today submitted a memorandum to Lord Mayor and Deputy Commissioner, Lahore, with a request to rename Shadman Chowk as Bhagat Singh Chowk and installation of his statue.

The Foundation has already appealed 2018 be Year of Peace.

In the request there is a special reference of quote of the founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah – who offered tribute the Bhagat Singh freedom fighter on 4.9.1929 and 12.9.1929 by saying that there never been born any such like brave person in the subcontinent like Bhagat Singh and he is also entitled to be bestowed with the greatest medal of gallantry Award – Nishan-e-Haider) like Major Raja Aziz Bhatti martyr who also wrote on the bravery of Bhagat Singh in the daily newspaper and posed him as his Hero and Ideal.

 

Added here, Qureshi advocate by profession in Lahore High Court had also visited  Hussainiwala, Ferozepur on October 19, 2017, and appealed to both the countries to convert Line of Control into Line of Compromise.  He is pursuing the case in the courts of Pakistan to establish the innocence of Shaheed Bhagat Singh after 86 years of his hanging as the name of Bhagat Singh did not appear in the FIR in Urdu which was against two unknown gunmen on December 17, 1928, at 4.30 pm with the Anarkali Police Station.
