Thieves not spared even Civil Hospital; take away 20 AC pipes and outer fittings
Ferozepur, May 5, 2023: The theft of motorcycle, scooters and cycles had been common in the civil hospital but thieves have not even spared the Civil Hospital, which provides health and emergency services to the people of this border town.
Air-conditioning is extremely important in hospitals and operation theatres, which helps in controlling temperature, humidity and sterile filtration besides helping in the prevention and treatment of diseases.
As per report, around Air Conditions (ACs) pipes are fitted in the various departments along with outer units and most of the departments are facing a problem especially at the start of summer season. The thieves had decamped with the pipes of air-conditioners in the Civil Hospitals and there was a panic among the staff and patients.
Sandeep Singh in the X-ray department informed us that we have brought to the notice of SMO about the theft of AC pipes from our department and installation of AC in the X-ray department is very important as per the guidelines. In the absence of ACs, we as well as the patients are facing a lot of problems as radiation has an effect on our body. We don’t even have TRD bags and without them, it is risky to operate the X-Ray machines.
The Dialysis department has also not been spared by the thieves, said Guljeet Singh, a patient who had to come to Civil hospital two times a week.
Dr. Nikhil Gupta, Ortho Surgeon informed that the patients are facing a lot of problems with the theft of pipes of ACs fitted in the operation. In the OT we have to maintain the temperature in the OTs where even major operations are carried between 16 to 18 degrees. During the summer season, the patients as well as the staff have to face a lot of problems and there are chances of infection among the patients in the event of non-operation of air-conditioners.
Naveen Sethi SMO said, it is very unfortunate that thieves have not spared even the hospitals which gives life to the patients and stealing of 20 ACs fittings by thieves have paralysed the working of the hospitals. We are trying to make arrangements for restoring the operation of ACs. We have informed the police authorities for registration of a case.
