‘The Great Khali’ to visit Ferozepur on March 2

Ferozepur, February 28, 2016:  The Punjabis are emotional but not fool.  We have opposition. I have opponents but not enemies.  The Congress MLA Parminder Singh Pinki said these words while addressing the  representatives of various local NGOs and prominent citizens of the city at Baghbaan House called to extend invitation of the visit of ‘The Great Khali’ on March 2 at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium to take pledge from the students to contribute to make Drug Free Punjab.

Pinki said, the people of Punjab are emotional by nature but not fool. They now understand the pulse of the government to decide about the next government.

He said, I being Congress MLA of the opposition party have no funds at my disposal for the development of the city whereas in some other states, the funds are also made available at the disposal of opposition MLAs  but I have managed from the Centre for the major projects like four-lane road Hussainiwala to Talwandi, Government Degree College, PGI Satellite Centre, State of Art Eye Centre and Solar Lights, by using my personal influence.

Lashing out at the ruling government, Pinki said, despite e-governance and quick communication system available, it took more than two years for transfer of land for the PGI Satellite Centre with the result the construction work on this project could not be started due to procedural wrangles.  He added that with the start of PGI Centre in this border town, the people of Malwa would be benefitted for treatment of chronic diseases like Cancer and they have not to rush to far furlong places like Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar or Chandigarh for getting the healing.  Besides, this will also provide jobs directly or indirectly to about ten thousand peoples of the area.

Pinki said, under the campaign ‘Nasha Shado-Kohad Kado’ the ‘The Great Khali’ –international wrestler – will be visiting Ferozepur on March 2 and the local Congress Committee will also organize Drug Awareness Rally on this day.  The Great Khali will create awareness among the youths to highlight the name of this border town – Ferozepur – at the global level, by keeping themselves away from the drugs and taking part in sports and excelling in education.

Congress MLA said, Punjabis were known for their bravery in whole of the world but now  is know with drug addict. In such circumstances, the contribution of representatives of various local NGOs will be of vital important in shunning the menace of drugs in our society and save the families of Punjabis.

He also appealed to the government to set-up industry in this border town to create job opportunities for the pass-out youths so that they are immediately involved in the work to stand on their own feet.  Now the Punjabis are well education available in the market but in the absence of industry in this town, they are compelled to work at the meager wages of even five thousand bucks.
