&#39Neki ki deewar&#39 raised at Ferozepur Railway Station to help poor

Ferozepur, April 5, 2017:  Robert Frost in his poem 'Mending Wall' indicates how existence of walls are a reminder of distance. But the 'Neki ki Deewar' (wall of kindness) earmarked at Ferozepur Cantt will help the needy persons.

Neki Ki Deewar was today inaugurated by  Anuj Parkash, Divisional Rail Manager, Ferozepur Division on Tuesday at Ferozepur Cantt railway station.

The concept is not new one, in fact, a citizen-driven initiative that was first started in Mashhad, a north-eastern city of Iran with installation of few hooks and hangers on a wall called 'Deewar-e-Mehrbani' with words 'If you don't need it, leave it. If you need it, take it,' written next to it. The initiative soon became a viral movement and spread like wildfire across the globe with people painting walls and joining this humanitarian initiative.

The concept was replicated here in the city by Anuj Parkash, DRM Ferozepur at Ferozepur Cantt railway station.

Speaking on the occasion, DRM said, “Neki Ki Deewar” is already set up in different parts of Indian but it is first of its kind in our division also and I just liked it instantly and realized the need to do it here in the city and see how wall of kindness help the needy.

He further said, its success would be possible only if people come forward to drop certain items and on seeing encouraging response and its utility, more similar walls would be dedicated to people in the coming days.
