Ferozepur, April 23, 2020: Pranav Arora, 18-year-old was on cloud nine a month back when an acceptance letters were received from three foreign Universities but now confined to four-walls, glued to TV, mobile games following new updates from across the globe about the coronavirus pandemic as there is uncertainty about his dream to study in abroad.

Due to COVID-19 and lockdown situation, the restrictions have been imposed worldwide, in most of the countries; the dreams of several students to study aboard have either been shattered or delayed.

With the recent halting immigration for a couple of months and the students who are already in final year are equally hard pressed, with no clarity on jobs and their visa deadlines racing against lock down timelines besides adding worry for parents who had arranged education loans.

At least for the coming one year, the business of IELTs institutions and Immigration centers, say more than 60 in this small border town, will be affected.

This is not the one case, there are hundreds of youths who had planned to go abroad, cleared their IELTS tests, decided about the streams of their choices, negotiated with the foreign universities on fee structures besides managing funds by the parents in the account as one-year fee.

Still certain students have hop for the sessions beginning in September who had planned to go to New York.

Seeing the things not to be normal in the coming time due to increasing number of coronavirus globally, Dr.Rajiv Kumar, HoD-Chemical at SBS Technical campus, believes that it is the right time now to look for a Plan B of children and apply for the best colleges in India instead of wasting one year.

Another aspirant couple – Jaswinder Singh Sandhu of Jhoke Hari Har village – whose family too had planned to personally accompany the son at the time of his admission on foreign land by arranging a pleasure trip but it feels like that time is like iced-up in the glass which will take extra moments to melt.
