Sports Nursery will be set up at primary level : Rana Sodhi

Ferozepur, April 26, 2018: The youths of Punjab are full of sports hidden talents and Sports Nursery will be established at the primary level said Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi on his first visit to Ferozepur after becoming the Sports Minister addressing the media persons said, the Kabaddi Cups during the previous alliance government are no on our calendar so far. He, however, condemned the ignoring of the sports stadiums especially the Astroturf in Ferozepur,  by the previous government.

Rana Sodhi, I have been sent as a representative by the Captain government and it will be my endeavour to sort out the problems of the people of the area by presenting it to the government and Cabinet.

Sodhi said, the government will take care of giving importance to hockey and kabaddi games but the Kabaddi Cup matches are not on our calendar so far.  He said, only those games which will suit according to the geographical conditions of the area will be preferred as players of wrestling and boxing in Majha, hockey in Doaba and shooting in Malwa are available. 

We will bring the world-class trainers, psychologist to give a fillip to the sports activities and set the system right, said Sodhi. He held responsible the Akali for non-development of sports infrastructure during the last decade.  Hardly it is 48 hours of my become the Sports Minister, I have directed all the officers my department for overall review of the sports programme in the state, besides improving the condition of existing sports stadiums in the state, he added. 

He said the sports will also be arranged between India and Pakistan if the situation is normal.

The youth clubs at the village level will also be activated and pursue with the Finance Minister for adequate funds.
