Saragarhi Memorial will be developed as tourists attractions: Ramvir

Ferozepur, April 28:  To follow up the decision of the Punjab Cabinet to hand over the management of the Saragarhi gurdwara to th administration of Saragarhi Memorial Management Trust, Ferozepur, to ensure better upkeep of the historic site, the meeting of Saragarhi Management Memorial Trust was held today.

 

The meeting was convened by Major General Rajesh Kundra, GOC, Golden Arrow Division and Ramvir, Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur. On this occasion the Deputy Commissioner said that the Punjab cabinet has entrusted the responsibility of the Management of historic Saragarhi Gurdwara to the trust once again which will be headed by the GOC and DC Ferozepur will be the Chairman. The DC said total number of 12 people from civil and administration will be included in the trust. The DC said that notification in this regard has been issued by the Punjab government.

 

On this occasion Major General Kundra said that the Saragarhi's assassination is an unforgettable “Gatha” of the valiant martyrdom of the brave heroes. He said that the Indian Army will provide full support to the events and events that will be held in memory Shaheed so that the entire world can be made aware of the incredible sacrifice of the martyrs.

 

DC Ramvir said that it is the ardent desire of the people of this region that Saragarhi memorial should be developed as a historical place. He said to make people aware about the sacrifices of these brave soldiers, the trust will seek help from the state government and self financed NGOs.

On this occasion Anirudh Gupta, a prominent social worker and educationist of Ferozepur region and a member of the Saragarhi Trust said that Saragarhi memorial is the identity of Ferozepur. “The saga of theses valiant soldiers enthralls us every time we hear. It is hard to believe that any such incident had taken place. We salute these soldiers who made the people of Ferozepur proud”, said Anirudh Gupta

 

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Brigadier Narinder Singh, CEO of Cantonment Board Ompal Singh,  Col (Retd) Baldev Singh Chahal, Colonel Amardeep Singh Chahal Deputy Director, Military Welfare, Colonel Jaya Kumar, Captain (Retired) Amarjeet Singh, Harjeet Singh Sandhu, SDM Ferozepur, Paramdeep Singh, DTO, Anirudh Gupta, Gaurav Sagar Bhaskar, Satish Arora  were also present.
