SOS Children’s Villages India Celebrates Mother’s Day Across 31 Locations in India

Ferozepur/New Delhi, 10 May 2023: SOS Children’s Villages India, the country’s largest self- implementing childcare NGO, celebrated Mother’s Day across 31 locations in India. This special occasion aimed to honor and appreciate the work of the Mothers who tirelessly care for the children under the organisation’s care.

A special function was organised where the festivities commenced with the reading of a special message of appreciation from the President of SOS Children’s Villages India. This heartfelt message conveyed the organisation’s deep admiration and gratitude for the unwavering dedication and selfless love that the Mothers provide to the children in their care.

Additionally, esteemed Chief Guest (Ms. R. Menaka, IAS, District Magistrate – North, Delhi) delivered an inspiring speech, underscoring the profound importance of the mother-child bond in a child’s life. They emphasised the vital role these Mothers play in shaping the future of the children entrusted to SOS Children’s Villages India. “I am impressed to see the devotional work by mothers at SOS Children’s Village, Bawana and the talent of children over here. SOS is doing wonderful contribution to the wellbeing of the children”. Other eminent guest of the occasion were Mr. Arun Sharma (District Child Protection Officer – North) and Mr. Naveen (Child Protection Officer).

In a heart-warming gesture, the children organised and conducted felicitation ceremonies to make their beloved mothers feel cherished and special. Each Mother was adorned with a beautiful saree, symbolising our deep respect and gratitude towards them.

During these memorable celebrations, the children made their Mothers feel special by presenting cards and performing cultural activities in their honour. This heartfelt tribute allowed them to express their heartfelt appreciation and love for the nurturing presence these remarkable women bring to their lives. To mark the joyous occasion, a delightful cake was shared and enjoyed by both the Mothers and their adoring children. This shared moment of celebration exemplified the unity and love fostered within the SOS Children’s Villages India community.

Speaking about the Mother’s Day celebrations, Sumanta Kar, CEO at SOS Children’s Villages India, expressed, “On this special day, I want to express my deepest gratitude and appreciation to all the SOS Mothers across 31 locations in India. They are the backbone of our organisation, and we could not do what we do without them. They are changing lives every day and making the world a better place for the children under our care. They share their lives with the children and their unconditional love builds trusted relationships with each child”.
