Small land owner moves from pillar to post to get justice

Ferozepur, March 6, 2018: Punjab Singh – a small landowner of 18 kanals in village Wahge Wala in Ferozepur district is moving from pillar to post as neither police nor the politician extending a helping hand to get him justice.

Addressing the media persons at Press Club, Ferozepur today, Punjab Singh said, he owns ancestral land in the name of his father and uncle adjoining to the landlord – Rachhpal Singh.  Earlier we had good relations with them and even exchanging family terms in every ritual.  Even Rachhpal Singh used to tie Rakhi to my mother treating her as the mother.

Since our small piece of land is surrounded by around 150 acres of land of Rachhpal Singh from three sides, he is pressurizing us to vacate the land.  Not only this, he has attacked me along with 25-30 persons and my family members and I have spent more than two lacs on my medical treatment, he added.

We have harvested the last paddy crop and after sowing the wheat crop, our visit to our own land is restricted by Rachhpal Singh.

Expressing his story in a choked voice, Punjab Singh said, we made a complaint to the police on 20-10-2017 to SHO and on 21-10-2017 to SSP but no case has so far been registered despite making the number of visits to the police station.  Even our approach to the local politician has failed to solve our problem.  Rather a counter case has been registered on our family members.

Punjab Singh said, today we have approached the media with a hope to get justice by highlighting the ground realities in the press.

Despite trying the concerned police chief at the police station could not be contacted.
