Shiv Sena workers burn effigy of Pb Govt in ferozepurFerozepur, March 25, 2016:  Today, Shiv Sena workers burn effigy of Punjab Government and Chairman, Punjab State Power Supply Corp Ltd demanding free power supply to Gua Shalas which the government is yet to materialize on ground despite announcing the same.

 

Continuously doling out freebies and subsidies to various sections of society, the Punjab government has some time back decided go a step further and provide free of cost power to cows.

 

Added here that on September 8, following a meeting with Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and CMD, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited, Kimti Bhagat, Chairman, Punjab Gau Sewa Commission, on September 8 had made an announcement that the state government was contemplating to provide free power and water supply to around 470 cow shelters all across the state.

 

The decision was to be implemented in respect to those gaushalas which have at least 50 cows and all of them should be abandoned cattle. The decision would &#39benefit&#39 around 2.69 lakh cows in these gaushalas and please cow worshipers in the state.

 

The decision was significant at a time when a hue and cry was being raised in the country over banning of slaughtering of cows.

 

Shouting slogans against the Punjab government, the Shiv Sena leaders, Minku Choudhry, Taman Chouhdary Sudesh Choudhary, Paramajit Singh, Radhey Sham said, despite announcement by the Punjab Government about 15 months back, no action has so far been taken with regard to waiving off the bills of guashalas and exempting the charges for future supplies also.

 

Commenting on the intentions of the government, Minku Choudhary said, the Punjab Government don’t have any inclination for accepting the demands of Hindus.

He said, there are 472 Gaushala in the Punjab State and the list of 356 Gaushalas have been submitted to the Gau Sewa Commission and Animal Husbandry Department the PSPSCL is still issuing the electricity bills to the gaushalas.

 

He further said that for the last 9 days, Harish Singla, Senior Vice President, Punjab, under directions of Punjab President, Yograj, is sitting of hunger strike and now converted into ‘fast-unto-death’.

 

Giving a warning to the government, the Shiv Sena leaders said, in case the power bills of guashalas are not waived off immediately, threatened to further  intensify the  agitation.
