Ferozepur, February 4, 2016: Polytechnic Wing of Shaheed Bhagat Singh State Technical Campus celebrated Basant Fest–2016 with message of “Saying No to Chinese Dore” under the Chairmanship of Mr. Gobind (Department Incharge Mechanical Engg) and Mr Rahul Sharma (Department Incharge Electrical Engg). Two Departmental societies of Polytechnic Wing, namely AGNEE of Electrical Engineering and ACME of Mechanical Engineering Deptt had jointly organized this Basant Fest in a mega way. Kite Flying Competitions among Boys and Girls students and Staff were organized during this fest.

Dr. T. S. Sidhu, Campus Director was the Chief Guest during Inauguration Ceremony. Prof. Gazal Preet Singh, Principal Poly Wing; Dr A K Tyagi, Associate Director; Prof. Gobind, HOD–Mechanical Engg Deptt and Chairperson-ACME Society, Prof. Rahul Sharma, HOD-Electrical Engg Deptt and Chairperson-AGNEE Society, Mr Gurjeevan Singh, HOD-ECE Deptt, Mrs Anuradha Rani, HOD-CSE Deptt and Mr Rajnish Kumar, HOD – Applied Sciences Deptt were present during this festival.

In this Festival, various events were organized to celebrate the Basant Festival in a Mega way. Dance Performance with fire works was performed by Shining Star Group thrilled the audience. Various Singers Deep Brar, Yaad Brar, Imanat Grewal, Rahul Hans, Garry Sandhu, Anurag, Harjang Bror and Karron sung their Hit Songs. Gatka performance was main attraction. It was performed by Tat Khalsa Gatka Academy of Guru Har Sahai was main attraction during this Basant Festival. Many spectacular stunts were performed during the gala opening ceremony. All the students, faculty and staff enjoyed these performances equally.

 

Dr T S Sidhu, Director Capmus praised the Poly Wing Faculty, Staff and Students for making magnificent arrangements for Basant Festival. He specially appreciated the efforts Training and Placement Cell of Polytechnic Wing for placement of students in MNS’s. During the inauguration Ceremony Balloons and pigeons were flown in sky to spread the message of Peace and Harmony. Keeping in view the various incidents of injuries with use of Chinese thread, he said, every kite lover should say no Chinese thread.

 

 

Roller Coaster rides, Columbus rides, Dragon Train and Solumbo were main attractions among students of all the three Wings (Management, Engineering and Polytechnic Wings). Even faculty, staff and their kids enjoyed rides.

 

Many Stalls of Games and Refreshments were set up for entertainment of visitors. DJ Request Stall was main attraction for students of this Technical Campus. Students enjoyed dancing to music throughout the day. Even passout students Mr Pargat Singh, Mr Manvinder Singh, Mr Gurbaksh Singh, Mr Mandeep Singh Thethi, Mr Gurpreet Singh, Mr Taranjeet Singh, Mr Gurmeet Singh and Mr Gagan Deep of Polytechnic Wing joined in the celebrations.

 

Finally, Prize distribution ceremony was organized in the evening. Mr Gazal Preet singh, Principal congratulated the ACME and AGNEE societies for successfully organizing this Festival. He congratulated the Diploma students for making hard efforts in organizing this magnificent festival. He hoped that objective with which this festival was organized for not using Chinese Dor and spreading the message of Peace and Harmony will be fulfilled.

 

Harwinder Singh of Third Year Electrical Engg won the First Prize during Kite competition among Boys by cutting 13 kites. Sunil kumar and Naresh Kumar of Mechanical Engg Third Year got second positions by cutting 11 kites each. Abhishek dhawan of Mechanical Engg Third Year got third position by cutting 08 kites each in this category.

 

Mr. Sanjeev Kumar from Central Workshop won first prize in Staff (Male) kite flying competition by cutting 12 kites. Prof Sunil Behal and Mr Amarjeet from Applied Sciences Department and Chemical Engineering got second positions by cutting 10 and Mr. Manpreet Singh of ECE Poly Wing won third prize by cutting 7 kites. Best Khicha prize was won by Mr. Rajnish Kumar, Lecturer in Mechanical Engg Deptt. Stage Secretary Mr Taranjeet Singh, Ms Gagandeep Kaur, Ms Harpanthparteek Kaur and Mr Dinesh Kataria managed the stage well.
