Recovery of mobiles, prohibited items continues unabated in Ferozepur jail
Ferozepur, January 22, 2024: The recovery of mobiles and other banned items from inside the jail from the inmates or lying unclaimed or from the packets thrown over the high walls from outside from the open space or thickly populated area high rising buildings taking advantage of dense fog, continued unabated. Frequent recovery of banned items and throwing of packets inside the jail with the alleged connivance of jail officials, which cannot be ruled out.
In three different search operations conducted recently in barracks of Ferozepur jail, 4 mobiles, charger, data cable, 42 sachet ‘zarda’ were recovered from five prisoners making a total recovery of 57 mobiles during the current month besides other prohibited items. However, last year, more than 500 mobiles were found inside the jail, and more than 43K calls made were detected from two mobiles that speak of blatant use of mobiles inside the jail.
On Sunday, three mobiles were recovered from the packet thrown inside the jail. Not only this, the recovery of dongles used for transferring data or for internet purposes and wireless headphones, has baffled the jail staff, despite strict vigil at the entry points.
