Recovery of mobile phones from Ferozepur jail inmates continues

Ferozeur, April 19, 2020:  With nno surveillance and alleged connivance of the jail authorities, cases of seizures of mobile phones inside the jail have become rampant and today for the sixth time in the last 20 days, a mobile from inside the jail inmate was recovered during the search operation. With the frequent recovery of mobile from jail, indicates the security threat besides putting a question mark on the security arrangements at the jail.

The jail authorities too go for special checking in the barracks and other ares in jail, still it appears that their efforts are half-hearted.

Added here, on Saturday, one Pharmacist has also been booked, posted in the jail, for smuggling in mobile and drug, to be handed over to two jail inmates handed over to him by someone from outside, with promise to pay him Rs.5000.

There is a need to take some special measures to put a complete check on smuggling in of mobiles inside the jail housing more than one thousand prisoners including hardcore criminals.

As per the details, on a tip-off, a search operation was carried out resulting in recovery of one mobile of Samsung golden coloour with battery and SIM car was recovered from Gurwinder Singh prisoner under trail of Bukan Shah Wala in Ferozepur.

A case has been registered at City Police Station under Section 52-A of Prisons Act 1894, on the complaint of Nirpal Singh Assistant Superintendent besides appointing of IO Sharma Singh, SI in this case, to further investigate into the matter.

Jail officials on anonymity, on asking about the seizures of mobiles phones frequently, it is only due to conducting of intensive checking, around 60 mobiles have been recovered during the current year and with continued raid this problem can be checked. But no follow up of the purpose of calls have been revealed in any of the case.
