Railway employees to download Aarogya Setu app to track spread of COVID-19

Ferozepur, April 5, 2020: The Government of India is stepping up its efforts to make credible information about the Coronavirus Pandemic accessible to the masses with the launch of a new tracking app, Aarogya Setu.

Railways has asked its employees to down load Aarogya Setu mobile app launched by the government to track Covid-19 patients in the country, said Divisional Railway Manager Rajesh Aggarwal adding  that the Government of India has launched a mobile app called “Arogya Setu” to assess the risk and infection of COVID-19.

Aarogya Setu app helps users in identifying whether they are at risk of being infected by the COVID-19 by checking if they have knowingly or unknowingly come into contact with the individuals that have been tested positive with the Novel Coronavirus Pandemic.  It was developed by the NIC (National Informatics Center), which falls under the department of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeiTY).

The app, as of now, supports 11 different Indian languages, which includes the Hindi, English, and requires access to both Bluetooth and location to determine if you have recently come in contact with a Coronavirus positive patient. People will have to first register their mobile number before using the Aarogya Setu app.

DRM said, this app allows users to identify the location of infected people. The track will alert about the possible risk of infection. He told that the Railway Ministry has asked its all railway personnel to download this app and register at the earliest as this app will be very beneficial for railway workers and their families.

He said, to download the app, click on “Install” option from Google Play Store, open the app, accept all permissions and set location sharing as “Always”, swipe to the right and finally click the “Register Now” option. Also accept the terms and conditions and enter your mobile number, Fill in your personal details. Do your “Self Assessment Test” by filling in details related to your health and travel.

DRM said, on this app, you will get “Green Status”, which will help you to enter the station whenever the passenger train service starts.
