Punjab Police bust extortion racket of girls targeting youths on social media
Ferozepur, September 2, 2018: The Punjab Police have cracked a gang of three girls exploiting the youths and later on blackmailing the emotionally on the social media.
A case under Sections 84, 388, 420 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code has been registered.
The very purpose of social media has been misused instead of making it information and educative. It is being used as a platform to cheat the innocent people by the girls on sending a friend’s request to grab money by blackmailing emotionally through chatting for some time and then pretend to be in love.
The police booked a girl, identified as Meenu, who had been involved in grabbing big amounts from some innocent people after pretending to be in love and making them fool and blacking emotionally.
ASI Darshan Singh IO in the case said, Meenu involved a person Sandeep Kumar of Fazilka in her love on Facebook and after mutual understanding not only she grabbed Rs.85,000 from him but to get Rs.4.5 lakh more made a complaint with the Ferozepur district police to pressurize the family of Sandeep.
During the investigation, Meenu had been found guilty and had been trapped in her net and a case has been registered against Meenu, Manjit Kaur of Makhu and Jumma of Ludhiana.
Further investigation is still on to trace out if more people are the victim of Meenu.
On the other hand, Meenu had denied all these charges rather accused the police of not taking action on her complaint and registering a case on the complaint of Sandeep Kumar.
