Ferozepur, September 19, 2022: The Ferozepur police, in its dedicated drive against drugs, have registered 249 FIRs, arrested 305 unscrupulous persons with recovery of heroin, poppy husk, opium and habit forming drugs, since July, 2022 onwards.   In different seven cases, today, the police have also recovered 469 gm heroin, 800 illicit liquor, 9 stolen vehicles besides the arrest of 2 snatchers and one wanted absconder in murder case.

Divulging with details, Surendera Lamba, SSP said, the recovery made during the last around 3 months is 4 kg heroin, 57 kg poppy husk, 2.5 kg opium and 7,500 habit forming drugs.

In July, August and September, 104, 75, and 70 FIRs been registered with arrest of 125, 100 and 80 criminals respectively, he added.

SSP said, the dedicated drive against the anti-social elements will be a continued process.  There is already a decline in the crime graph with arrests and our all-out efforts will be to control the crime in the district.  We are also following the strategy to reach to the main suppliers with backward investigations of small drug peddlers.

He surmised confidently that in the cat and mouse game, the police will definitely win in its dedicated drive against criminal activity in the district.

Making an appeal to the people, SSP said, “Don’t become a part of drug rackets rather drug-addicted should report at the de-addiction centres to rehabilitate themselves, to enjoy comfortable life”.

We have restructured the dedicative drive to put check along with international border villages through PCRs and CCTV fitted vehicles, said SSP.

He said, People sometimes are unable to complaint to police officer about anyone, including police personnel, due to various reasons.  Often they don’t know whom to approach even. The police will shortly release a dedicated number to receive complaints supported with evidence in support of their complaint, against the unscrupulous persons or any other input to control the crime and identity of the complainant will not be revealed.
