PM Modi virtually lays foundation stone of 100 bedded PGI satellite centre, Ferozepur

Ferozepur,  February 25, 2024, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, virtually laid the foundation stone of the 100 bedded Satellite Centre of Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Ferozepur, Punjab. The ceremony took place at the PGI Centre in Ferozepur, where Dr Naresh K Panda, Dean Academics, introduced the medical facilities of the satellite centre to the audience

“The PGI Satellite Centre in Ferozepur will be operated by PGI faculty and aims to provide the residents of the area with expert medical treatments, saving them time and money from having to travel to the PGI main campus for treatment. This advanced medical facility will greatly benefit the residents of Ferozepur and the surrounding areas”, said Dr Panda.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sameer Agarwal, Nodal Officer, welcomed the audience and congratulated the residents of Ferozepur on the forthcoming advanced medical facility.

Several dignitaries graced the occasion, including -Bala Subramanian, Under Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, Priyank Bharati, Secretary, Medical Education (Punjab), Dr Sanjay Gupta, Principal, Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Rajesh Dhiman, Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur, Saumya Mishra, Senior Superintendent of Police, Anirudh Gupta, Chief Executive Officer, DCM Group, Dr. RK Ratho, Sub-Dean, Dr. Vipin Koushal, Medical Superintendent, Varun Ahluwalia, FA, Lt. Col. G. S. Bhatti, Superintendent Hospital Engineer and faculty members and nursing students from NINE, PGIMER Chandigarh also travelled to Ferozepur to be a part of the foundation ceremony.

With a budget of 490.54 Crores, the Satellite Centre of PGIMER in Ferozepur, Punjab is planned to have 100 indoor beds, including 30 intensive care and high-dependency beds. The centre will house 10 clinical speciality departments and five additional supporting departments. It will also include Two minor and Five major operation theatres. The building will be constructed using the latest techniques and is proposed to be a platinum-rated green hospital. PGI administration thanked Hon’ble Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi and Sh Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of Health & Family Welfare and Chemical & Fertilizers of India for providing this opportunity to PGIMER, Chandigarh to serve the people of the border area. This will give a boost to the healthcare infrastructure of the region. Heartfelt thanks to the Firozpur administration for providing the technical, logistic and administrative support to make the event a great success. He also thanked local people and media organizations who contributed to the success of the function.
