Ferozepur, November 24, 2024: During a routine night patrol, SPD Randhir Kumar and his team apprehended an individual posing as an officer in a Fortuner (vehicle number HR01AL0099) with red and blue lights and a flag, at Checkpost No. 7. The driver claimed there was an officer inside, but questioning revealed the “officer” to be a common man from Ambala with a fraudulent ID from the Haryana Election Commission. Authorities are investigating how he obtained the fake identification.
The red and blue lights used by police vehicles are commonly referred to as “emergency lights” or “sirens and lights”. These lights are part of a lightbar and are used to signal urgency, alert other drivers, and indicate that a police vehicle is in pursuit, responding to an emergency, or performing law enforcement duties. The combination of red and blue is widely recognized as a symbol of law enforcement.
This incident was part of a broader traffic enforcement operation that saw 203 vehicles challaned for various violations in just three hours, from 8 PM to 11 PM. Police set up checkpoints at 14 locations throughout the city and cantonment, focusing on maintaining road safety and order. Violations ranged from improper use of bullet motorcycles with firecrackers to other breaches of traffic regulations.
SPD Randhir Kumar emphasized that the crackdown on traffic violations is essential for ensuring road safety and discipline. He assured that these operations would continue to target offenders and maintain strict enforcement of traffic laws. The fake officer’s Facebook profile, which showed photos with prominent political figures, further complicates the case and highlights the need for vigilance.
By addressing these traffic violations, Ferozepur Police aim to create a safer driving environment and deter individuals from breaking the law. The police have reiterated their commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety of all road users.
