Golden Arrow Division celebrates 53rd anniversary of ‘Barki Day’

Ferozepur, September 10, 2018: Golden Arrow Division celebrated 53rd anniversary of the ‘Barki Day’ on10 Sep 2018. This day marks the victory of 65 Infantry Brigade during Indo-Pak war of 1965, which led to the capture of Barki town, the gateway to Lahore.  This illustrious history, since then earned the name of the brigade as the ‘BARKI BRIGADE’.

 

Major General Jasbir Singh Sandhu, General Officer Commanding Golden Arrow Division laid the wreath at the ‘Barki War Memorial’ on the occasion.  The General Officer Commanding highlighted the role of the gallant soldiers in achieving a major military victory over Pakistan which turned the tide during the war.

 

He exhorted all ranks to re-dedicate themselves to the service of the nation and emulate our war veterans and martyrs who have brought glory to the nation in particular and Indian Army in general by making the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.

 A large number of officers, JCOs & Jawans of Ferozepur garrison participated in the event and paid homage to the martyrs of the battle of Barki.
