Ferozepur, September 19, 2015 : The Ferozepur police have arrested four members of interstate ‘wrestlers gang’ involved in robbery with recovery of one revolver .32 bore, three live cartridges, one jeep and Rs.6.09 lac cash.

The arrested are Sukhchain Singh of Seerwali in Muktsar, Gurjit Singh of Panni Karai (Amir Khas), Vineet Kumar of Fazilka and Gursharandeep Singh alias Soni of Nurpur Kirpal.

Giving this information to the media persons in a press conference, Hardayal Singh Mann, SSP informed that Sulakhan Singh DSP Guruharsahi alongwith his staff during a ‘naka’ put up for routine checking at Kohar Singh Wala Maur, Faridkot Road, Mandi Guruharsahai, got a secret information that a wrestlers gang – of Amarjit Singh, Gujrsharan Singh, Sukhchain Singh, Balraj Singh, Gurjit Singh and Vineet Kumar-  are hiding in an non-operational rice mill on Jhawla Road and they are making robberies at the shops, mall complexes after recce of the particular areas.

He said, a case was registered at under Sections 399, 422 of IPC and  25, 27, 54, 59 of Arms Act at Police Station Guruharsahai .

SSP said, four persons were arrested on the spot and a separate case was registered against Gursharandeep Singh for recovery of with recovery of one revolver and three live cartridges.

The police chief said, during the preliminary investigation it was revealed that Amarjit Singh, kingpin of the gang is resident of Nurpur Kirpal village in Muktsar district. He has also lost one of his accomplice in firing who had made a gang for looting.  Firstly, he used to create terror in the colleges in Muktsar and later on practically do the robbery. This gang has earlier robbed in the shopping mall complex at Ganganagar besides at Moga, Bhatinda, Muktsar and Malout cities where different cases  are registered against them.

A case at Jalalabad is also registered against them for robbing TVS, motorcycle and jeep and cash worth Rs.6.09 lacs.

The leader of the gang – Amarjit Singh and Gursharand Singh had jointly looked one mobile shop owner at Muktsar of Rs.2 lac and Active scooter while he returning home after closing his shop.

SSP further informed all the arrested persons are from well-to-do families, physically and mentally fit and doing wrestling at Faridkot and won national level    distinctions in wrestling.  Not only this, one of them namely Sukhchain Singh was married on last Sunday.  On asking about his the counseling, SSP said, we will try to do counseling of newly wedded accused to start a new life.

He informed that these wrestlers-turned-robbers also used to take shelter with the students in the universities.  Four gang members have been arrested and the remaining two will be in police grip shortly.  During investigation, university students are also expected to come on surface and more recoveries are expected, he added.

With regard to the reason behind becoming hold-up man, he added that they wanted to live luxurious life.
