Popular resentment rises as ongoing farmers’ agitation continue to oppose holding BJP meetings

Ferozepur, March 27, 2021: Popular resentment of farmers against the BJP leaders over three farm bills is getting momentum in the state by stopping their entries in the villages and holding meetings. On Saturday, a press conference, to highlight the BJP party achievement and future programmes, was to be held by the state-level leader Sunita Garg, State Secretary, BJP,  at Press Club Ferozepur but immediately on getting this information, the farmers gathered at Press Club chowk to oppose the press conference. What reach-out is possible in such a situation by the BJP leaders?

A closer look at the voting patterns in the local body elections showed that many areas have deserted and moved away from the party as all the 33 seats were won by the Congress party.  Even women and children are joining at every front with a motto to keep participating in the agitation until the three laws are repealed and to ensure the non-implementation of the controversial farm laws at least until December 2024.

The farmers also shouted slogans against the Modi government and BJP leaders.  However, the press conference could not be held.

It is pertinent to mention that farmers in the state are protesting against repealing three farm laws for the last four months and are on sit-in dharna at Delhi borders.  They are also opposing the BJP leaders for holding any meeting and visit the villages.

Speaking on the occasion, Gurmit Singh Pojo Ke, District President, Krantikari Kissan Union said, our protests will continue till the three farm laws are not withdrawn.

Surinder Singh Bagge Ke Pippal, District President informed that the press conference could not be held due to protest by the farmers.
