Dy Dir (F) reviews wheat procurement by five agencies in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, April 27, 2021:  All the five procuring agencies in the state – Pungrain, Markfed, Punsup, Warehouse and FCI have procured 6,37,603 MTs wheat crop against the total arrival of 6,53,312 MT in Ferozepur district and released Rs.696.01 crore in the account of  farmers through Direct Beneficiary Transfer (DBT) Scheme, said Mangal Das, Deputy Director Field, Ferozepur Division.

 

During review of the procurement arrangements, Deputy Director also visited the mandi and checked the quality being purchased and weight of the filled bags.

 

Deputy Director said, online payments the account of the farmers have also been made through direct beneficiary transfer scheme of the government.  He said that Pungrain has already paid Rs .287.26 crore , Markfed Rs .119.92 crore , PUNSUP Rs.152 crore , Punjab State Warehousing Corporation Rs .113.24 crore and Food Corporation of India Rs . 22.17 crore. In addition, Rs 1.42 crore has been paid to farmers for purchases made by private traders.

 

Expressing satisfaction over the adequate arrangements in the mandis and full support of Commission Agents Associataion and Guardians of Governance (GOG) and directed the officers to ensure that the farmers should not face any problem during the procurement operations.  He said all Covid-19 appropriate measure have also been taken.

 

Mangal Dass said that 2,18,262 MTs by Pungrain,  1,73,863 MT  by Markfed, 1,38,655 MT  by Punsup, 89,631 MT by Punjab State Warehousing Corporation and 16,272 MTs by Food Corporation of India (FCI) ) has purchased wheat. He also informed that so far 2,64,442 metric tonnes of wheat has been lifted from the procurement centers and orders have been issued to the procurement agencies to expedite the lifting work.

Disclosing this here today he said that various procurement agencies in the district were also procuring wheat from the procurement centers even on holidays so that the farmers would not face any delay or inconvenience in selling their produce.
