DRUCC members urge DRM to upgrade facilities at railway stations

Ferozepur, October 18, 2020: On Wednesday, Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee – DRUCC conducted online first meeting of the year, under the chairmanship of Rajesh Aggarwal, Divisional Rail Manager-DRM, Ferozepur Rail Division and Chairman DRCC which could not be head earlier due to Covid pandemic.

Addressing the members of the committee, the Divisional Railway Manager said that they should raise the issues related to the improvement of the basic facilities and services provided by the railways and also give their suggestions for increasing the revenue of the railways. He informed that at each station there is a Station Improvement Group under whose auspices local subordinate stations carry out work related to improvement.

Members of the committee included Aamir Singh Makkar of Goniana,  Ajay Rana of Mandi,  Katandu Sharma of Ludhiana, Deepak Jalandhari of Jalandhar and Yashpal Singh Dhiman and  Yogesh Gupta from Ferozepur participated in the meeting. .

During the meeting, the facility of ticket counter near FOB at Jalandhar City railway station and security in goods siding, special trains running from Ferozepur division due to farmer movement are currently being run by partial cancellation; hence for the convenience of passengers buses should be run.  The issues related to converting the railway gate near Goniana Mandi to rail over / under bridge and repairing the approach road of Zira road and railway gate near Dagru station, were also raised in the meeting.

DRM listened to the suggestions presented by the members of the committee regarding the basic facilities / services of their areas. He informed that the construction of ROB (railway over bridge) in Goniana can be done with the help of the state government and the share of the railway and the state government in the cost of its construction is on fifty-fifty basis.

Under the Smart City Mission, all the facilities available at Jalandhar City railway station will be upgraded, for this the railways have got funds and work planning has also been done said DRM adding that the next DRUCC meeting will be held on 22 December.

At the end of the online meeting, Sr.DCM Chetan Taneja thanked the DRM and members and said that this meeting was successfully completed under the guidance of the DRM.
