Documentary film by Ferozepur administration under Beti-Bachao Beti-Padhao drive selected for telecast on National Television
Documentary entails the efforts for women empowerment and interview of success stories
Ferozepur, March 4, 2020: In an endorsement to the efforts made by district administration Ferozepur under Beti-Bachao Beti-Padhao drive, the 1.55-minute documentary film prepared by women and child development department has been shortlisted by the government of India for the telecast on national television.
Dr.Prabha Arora, Joint Director, BBBP has appreciated the effort and support from the district administration in developing the documentary film.
Hailing the efforts of district program officer and her entire team, Deputy Commissioner Kulwant Singh said this major endorsement would give impetus to the drive in the district. He said that the efforts of the district administration have also made their place in a book prepared by the government of India highlighting the efforts under BBBP drive, which is going to be launched on March 5, 2020, at New Delhi.
Divulging more, District program officer Ms Rattandeep Kaur Sandhu stated that the documentary is of 1.55-minute duration and entails various efforts of the Ferozepur team such as One day DC, dedicated intersections for BBBP drive, interviews of the daughters who earned fame in various fields and illuminated the name of Ferozepur besides the details of efforts made under Poshan Abhiyan and to deter the female foeticide besides renaming of the chowks to create awareness as Maa-Beti Chowk and Saksham Beti chowk and dedicating the specific ceremonies in the importance of girl education, to provide the recognition to the local girl champions, achievers.
She said, the objection is to sensitize the people about Beti Bachao Beti Padhao through religious perspective and such programmes would result in improvement of sex ratio, enhance the enrolment of girls in school and to stop child marriage.
She further said, the innovative approach adopted by Ferozepur district for spreading the message of BBBP has been appreciated by the Ministry. Such practices would encourage further the cause of welfare of the girl child. A book of collection of 25 such inspiring stories collected from the districts is also being launched on disseminating messages through religious for on Community Mobilization theme.
