Cycle Rally in Ferozepur on Int’l Anti Drug Day to sensitize people to make drug free world

Ferozepur, June 26, 2021:  Cycle rallies by health and police departments were organized in the city, on International Drug Abuse Day to sensitize the people in general and youth in particular to the dangers of drugs and make the world drug free over the the theme of this International Day is ‘Share Facts on Drugs, Save Lives’.

A large number of citizens, officials and officers took part in the cycle rally organized under the tutelage of Deputy Commissioner Gurpal Singh Chahal and Hardyal Singh Mann, DIG Ferozepur Range, which  started from Civil Hospital and Shaheed Udham Singh Chowk in the early morning and passed through the main areas of City and Cantt with an aim to sensitize the people in general and youth in particular to the dangers of drugs and make the world drug free.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner himself cycled to participate in the rally along with DIG Hardyal Singh Mann and SSP Bhagirath Meena. DC said that Punjab government has taken special measures including anti-drug campaign to keep the people away from drugs and Mission Tandrust Punjab to provide good health to the people to make the people of the state physically, mentally and financially healthy.

On this occasion, DIG Hardial Singh Mann and SSP Bhagirath Meena said that drug addiction is a stigma for our society. Drug abuse not only harms a person’s health but also his or her future. Keeping in view our physical fitness, we should get up in the morning and run as much as possible, cycle and do physical exercises so that we can stay away from drugs and take proper care of our body.

Dr. Rajinder Machanada Programme Officer said no doubt drugs are the door to destruction but it is possible to quit from this menace with will power by following the health department programmes at the drug de-addiction centres.  Dr.Rachna Mittal also said it is just a mental disorder and one can get rid of drug leprosy with determination and proper medical help.  For the purpose, drug de-addiction and OOAT centres for the treatmen tof the drugs dependent youths are available at the civil hospital.
