CJM visits Home for Blind, tastes and serves cooked food to inmates

Ferozepur, June 13, 2022:  On Monday, the Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Ekta Uppal visited Home for the Blind being run by the District Council for the Welfare of Handicapped.  During her visit, she tasted the cooked food and served it to the inmates in the dining hall.

Presently, there are 42 inmates being provided free lodging and boarding, out of which 35 are college going to pursue graduation and post-graduation in different subjects.  The inmates were overwhelmed by the presence of the CJM who asked them their queries besides sharing experiences of life.

CJM interacted with the inmates and enjoyed the songs in the melodious voice of Sukhchain, Ramesh Kumar an old inmate now in service at Kotkapura, and Veer Chand, YouTuber.

She expressed satisfaction over the food being served to the inmates and following the guidelines issued from time to time, like installing CCTV cameras, engaging the music teacher, arranging staff for laundry, and renovating the dining hall and visitors’ room.  She also distributed the walking stick, and fruits and juice packets were also distributed to the inmates.

She also wished the college-going students and motivated them to work hard to excel in their exams and prepared for the competition exams, to stand on their own feet in life. The objective of the visit was to make inmates the feeling like a part of society, self-confidence, dignity, and self-control, said CJM adding that blind students need to be taught to be self-sufficient from a very young age, to gain confidence in themselves.
