Ferozepur, March 20: Today, warm welcome was extended to BSF Women Camel Safari on reaching Ferozepur on reaching Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium started from Parkash Barrike Range.

To mark the 50th year – BSF Golden Jubilee Year 2014-15 –  as raising day of Border Security Force many programmes are being organized showcasing the force and its ethos. In the series of activities and events of celebration,  a camel safari for women was organized in areas of Gujarat, Rajasthan and Punjab frontiers under aegis of BSF and Tata Adventure Sports Foundations from February 24, which will conclude on March 22.

It is pertinent to mention that the camel safari contingent comprising two dozen BSF women constables including Tata Adventure Sports Foundations under the leadership of assistant commandant Sujata Shinde including the Ace mountaineers Bachendri Pal and Premlata Agarwal, both Padamshri Awardee.  The “Safari” team has traversed various terrains during their journey on camel backs.

The Women Camel Safari started its journey from Koteshwar Bhuj in Gujarat on 24th February this year reached Ferozepur – the land of martyrs.

A warm welcome was accorded to the camel safari by civilian population of border areas on the way. The safari will cover border areas and towns of Ferozepur and Amritsar sectors before culminating at Attari joint checkpost on March 22 after covering a total distance of nearly 2,300km.

A huge cultural event will be organized at local Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium on 20th March in which 26 Camels of BSF with women riders will march around the stadium and enthrall the audience. Besides, there were variety of programmes including Giddha & Bhangra by BSF, special programme of KV-II Children, Gatka by Nihangs and Feats of Bazigar.
