BSF 77 Bn seizes Heroin, Chinese pistol, magazines and ammunition in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, January 18, 2017:  On 18Jan2017 Border Security Force personnel have successfully seized 03 packets (approx. 2.5Kgs) of contraband suspected to be heroin, 01 Chinese Pistol with 02 magazines and 13 rounds of ammunitionin the area of responsibility of Border Out Post BastiramLal, Ex- 77Bn BSF, Sector Ferozepur, said in a press release today by R.S.Kataria, DIG BSF, Senior PRO BSF, Punjab Frontier.

2.            Keeping in view the vulnerability of Border due to ongoing winter season, foggy weatherand heightened activities of smugglers/ Anti-National Elementson border, Mukul Goel, IPS, Inspector General BSF Punjab Frontier has issued operational guidelines to all the Sectors under Punjab Frontier for further strengthening the border domination so as to effectively check activities of Anti- National Elements on Punjab border with Pakistan. Accordingly, DIG Sector BSF Ferozepur directed Field Commanders to maintain extra vigil on border to thwart the attempts of Anti- National Elements. Tactical Operations are being mounted to foil the attempts of the smugglers during this foggy season.

3.            On 18 Jan 2017 at about 1115hrs, BSF troops on duty in the area of responsibility of  Border Out Post BastiramLal, Ex-77 Bn BSF, Ferozepur Sector heard some suspicious sound on other side of the Border Security Fence. Nothing was visible due to dense fog. Accordingly, a Special Search Operation was launched by Border Security Force troops in above area. During search at about 1220 hrs, BSF party recovered 03 packets of (approx. 2.5 Kgs) of contraband suspected to be heroin, 01 Pistol with 02 magazines and 13 rounds of ammunition, which were lying ahead of Border Security Fence in between International Border and  Fence.

4.       The enhanced vigil of BSF troops has once again thwarted the attempt of smugglers/ Anti-National Elements to smuggle contraband items into India. During the year 2017, BSF has effected under mentioned seizures on Punjab Border:-
