Ferozepur, March 2, 2024:  Ahead of Lok Sabha elections, political tremor felt in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, March 2, 2024:  Four days back, there had been a real tremor in Ferozepur for a few seconds and people had come out of their houses but now in real life political tremor (political activities ) are being felt in the city ahead of Lok Sabha elections in the country.

Even though no exact date has so far been announced by the Election Commissioner of India for the Lok Sabha elections, everyone is speculating about the candidates for the particular party with the hope of winning chances with certain logic.

The impact of political activities can be seen not only on social media but also on offline media like tea shops, barber shops, at crossings or weddings or any other event.  Nowadays it is a season as and when or where there is a gathering of four persons.   Not only this, there is also whispering of betting on the winning of a particular candidate for the particular party.

Added here, presently the Lok Sabha seat is with the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Sukhbir Singh Badal but due to no settlement on the alliance between the SAD and BJP, there is a possibility of candidates of both these parties standing face-to-face in the coming Lok Sabha elections.

The expected strong candidate with BJP is former Sports Minister during the tenure of Congress, and now senior BJP leader Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi.  He has good support of his young son as youth BJP leader Hira Sodhi, rather he is two steps ahead of his father and is seen in most of the local functions and local charitable institutions,  irrespective of the persons having relations with any specific party and making a strong candidate for Lok Sabha to his father.

The other probable candidates are – a retiree from the Army, Fouji Angrez Singh, National Director representing All India Rai Sikh Foundation which has a good vote bank of 5 lacs and is the only  candidate belonging to this community.  On this ground, he would like to be nominated as a candidate in the coming elections.

So far as the Congress is concerned, former Congress MLA from Jalalabad Ravinder Singh Awla is the strong candidate.  No doubt, he belongs to Guruharsahai but the party is watching him by keeping a cat eye on him.  The second candidate is Kulbir Singh Zira, a former MLA from Zira is also standing in the queue of candidates, who too has a strong hand on the youths.  While in third place is Kamboj community leader and Chairman Verka Dairy Gurbhej Singh Tibbi as in Ferozepur, like the Rai Sikh community, the Kamboj community too has a good vote bank of around 3.5 lac.

So far as the Akali leader is concerned, the available strong candidate is only Sukhbir Singh Badal.  It is certain that in case he lands in this race, the election is going to be interesting whatever the results may be as he can give a strong fight in the Lok Sabha elections. Followed by Janmeja Singh Sekhon as the second candidate but the candidates fielded via parachute will not be acceptable to the common man.

Anyhow, till such time the dates are announced or candidates are fielded by the main parties, it is difficult to predict but the political tremor is going in the district, about the fielding of candidates by the main parties.
